BART CUMMINGS

Bart Cummings started his remarkable career as racehorse trainer in 1953 when he received his trainer licence. In 1958 he bought his first yearling and won his first feature race, the South Australian Derby.
In the 1965-1966 season Bart Cummings received his first Trainer’s Premiership after winning seven Cups, setting a training record in the Australian racing history. He quinellaed the Melbourne and Adelaide Cups and won the Caulfield, Sandown, Sydney, Brisbane and Queen’s Cups.
Bart Cummings set another training record when he became the premier trainer in South Australia and Victoria in the 1968, 1969 and 1970 seasons.
Bart Cummings originally operated from Glenelg, South Australia, in 1968 he opened a permanent stable complex in Victoria at Flemington and in 1975 he opened Leilani Lodge on Randwick Racecourse, NSW which is currently the centre of his training facilities. Here most horses are trained to develop their maximum potential.
