BOBBY LEWIS
1878-1947

Bobby Lewis was born in 1878 in Victoria. He had an enormously successful career as a jockey riding more than 900 winners. Bobby Lewis rode many great races for trainer James Scobie. Bobby Lewis and Harry White are the only jockeys to win four Melbourne Cups. No jockey won more VRC Derbies, VRC Oaks or SAJC St. Legers.
Bobby Lewis retired in 1938 at the age of 60 after a career of more than 40 years.
